Day 3 in Japan

After 2 busy days, we then turn to a culture visit day in Hiroshima. We went to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the atomic bomb dome to learn more from a Japanese view about this bomb.

I know more about how normal citizen influenced by this bomb. I listened the whole video from an old Japanese who is the survivor from that atomic bomb. He said there were so many people dead and harm. Both his parents dead and because there were many people dead, sake and wood which were used to cremation were limited. Many people could not survive even they were not expose to the atomic bomb. Because after the bomb, the temperature began to increase. Many people could not find the right place to keep them cool, like hided in the lake. The water and help form the doctors was limited.

There are mainly three stages about how Hiroshima was suffered from this bomb.

The first stage is Heat. The temperature near the hypocenter reached 3000 to 4000 degrees. Such the high temperature could burn human skin in a long distance.

The second stage is blast. This is a fast-moving wall of high-pressure which could hurled people, knocked them unconscious, and injured them, trapped them under collapsed building, or crushed them to death.

The last stage is radiation. This harm is penetrating deep into human bodied which would cause leukemia, cancer and other disorders. Nearly 140,000 people dead from this atomic bomp.

The litter girl who is dead because of leukemia made paper crane and wished herself could alive.

After I saw how brutal the bomb it is, I change my mind a little bit. At before, as a Chinese, I just don’t like all the Japanese when I talk about The World War II. I always thought that all the Japanese people should be punished and paid for the things they did to China. After I visited the museum, I say so may normal citizens who never took part to the war were dead. Radiation even affected fetuses inside their mother’s womb at the time of the bombing. I realized that the person who really need to be punished should be the politician who decide to begin the war.

Another thing I know is the reason for US decide to throw an atomic bomb to Japan. Expect US want to speed up Japanese surrender, another reason is US didn’t want Soviet declared war and curb its influence after the war.
