Pre-Departure Reflection

During the pre-departure class for nearly half of the whole semester, I learn a lot about the globalization and Japan.

For globalization, I learn the factors that driving globalization. The innovation in technology about communications, information processing and transportation lead to attain a better assessment of market opportunities, use globalization of supply chains and grow the worldwide productivity. From self-reference, I know myself better and consider the difference culture preference between other people and me. I know the three levels of international marketing, which are environmental factors, marketing strategy and market mix, and some memberships like RCEP and TPP.

For Japan, I know that Japan is an individualism, with high power distance, high uncertainty avoidance, universalism, ascription, high context, neutral and monochromic country. There are many different on culture characteristics between Japan and America. The one impress me most is Japanese is risk averting but American is risk taking. I tend to be a risk averting person. Because I think the safer the better. However, sometime people need to take some risks so that we can gain a larger success. I need to change me a little bit.

I exciting about my travel in Japan! I cannot wait to visit some local companies and know how the companies are operated. How they use their space, natural resource and human resource with such a high efficiency. Right now, I began to plan for my free time in Japan. I am looking forward to visit places of interest like temple and go shopping!

Wish all our team could have fun and gain something now about Japan.
