Day 2 in Japan

05/11/2017
Today is a very beautiful day with sunshine. We visited two company. And during the free time in the evening, I had a delicious dinner in a local small restaurant.

The first company we visit was Nitto Pharma. This is a family-friendly company which is focus on the use of the microorganism – Bacteria. This is a young company which was founded in 1947, and has 208 employees as of 2017.

One of the company policies which let me feel how unity they are is “sale and profits shall be returned to facility investment and working environment.” This policy is focus on how the company would use for the profit they earn but not the selling goal for the next year. This made people feel this company is care more about its employee like their working environment but not just about the money they made.

Nitto Pharma is a domestic company. It imports high technology from other country, like US. And export its product to South Korean and other countries.

We also had a fancy lunch with the employees in that company. Through talking with them, I know that they work every Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm. I really want to ask them that do they always need to work overtime, but because this is impoliteness to do so, so I just skipped this question. I also know that they always have activity like today to show their company to some students and visitors from other countries.

All the members in the company make us feel that we are welcome to visit and showing the process about how they produce their product with patience. After we left the company, all the employees stood outside and waved their hand to say goodbye.

The second company is KATAOKA corporation. This company is also a high technology company which has numerous manufacturing and testing devices, like laser technology and rechargeable battery. This is also a young company which was founded in 1968 and has 200 employees in 2017.

We could also figure that this company emphasize the importance of the corporation. “Unbeat working atmosphere is based on mutual trust among each employee.” It also has very high responsibility for the social, like “take responsible for the product” and pay attention on the “environmental policy”.

One of the difference between the fist company is that this is an international company. It has branch offices in Italy, China, Korea, US and Taiwan. And KATAOKA doesn’t provide standard product. It offers different product to different customers which they think this could made them competitive with their opponents.

For the dinner, I try a traditional Japanese snack – red been fish cake and Eel rice! They are so delicious!
